Manufacturing ~ Surface treatments

To deliver high-quality finished products to our customers, we manage our certified global supply chain for the outsourcing of surface treatments.

Most die castings can be used without surface treatments since zinc, aluminum and magnesium alloys exhibit good corrosion resistance in many environments.

Surface treatments are designed to improve aesthetics or provide additional environmental protection. Some are single or multi-layer coatings on the surface of the casting while others are impregnations and chemical conversions of the die cast 'skin'.

Surface treatments are applied to die castings to:

  • Provide a decorative finish (paint, polish/epoxy, plate, powder coat, chromate, phosphate)
  • Improve conductivity (electrolytic and electroless plating)
  • Protect against environmental or galvanic corrosion (paint, anodize, chromate, iridite, conversion coat)
  • Seal castings to eliminate leakage from internal porosity for high-pressure applications (impregnation)
  • Improve wear resistance (hard anodize, hard chrome plate)

Detailed explanations on surface treatments can be found by talking to one of our skilled representatives. Contact us today.
